Environmental
Environmental engineering is the application of science and engineering principles to improve the environment, (air, water, and land resources), to provide healthy water, air and land for human habitation. It involves waste water management and air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, radiation protection, industrial hygiene, environmental sustainability, and public health issues as well as knowledge of environmental engineering law. Environmental engineering also includes studies on the environmental impact of proposed construction projects.
Himalayan's environmental engineering staff offers a variety of services to help clients meet their unique environmental challenges, including environmental site assessment, brownfield site investigation and remediation, underground storage tank site assessment, remedial site investigation, remedial action plan development, soil and groundwater remediation system design, risk-based correction actions and environmental oversight of construction projects.
ProjectsHighway Design
As we continue to grow a community, we demand a transportation network that is safe, efficient and dependable. Highway engineering is the process of design and construction of efficient and safe highways and roads. Himalayan Consultants provides freeway design, rural and urban highway design, street design, pavement and geometric design, drainage, staging, erosion control traffic control design, signage, and pavement marking.
Our transportation engineers are thoroughly familiar with transportation design and the importance of keeping the public and stakeholders involved and informed throughout the planning and development process.
ProjectsGeotechnical
When a community determines that they require a building, road, runway, bridge, or other structure, the final product can only be as good as the subsurface and materials proposed for use. Geotechnical engineering uses the principles of soil mechanics and rock mechanics to investigate sub surface conditions and materials; determine the relevant physical/mechanical and chemical properties of these materials; evaluate stability of natural slopes and man-made soil deposits; assess risks posted by site conditions; design earthworks and structure foundations; and monitor site conditions, earth work and foundation construction.
Himalayan geotechnical professionals have experience with varying subsurface soil and water conditions. We provide a variety of geotechnical services including subsurface investigation and recommendations, slope stabilization, embankment design and analysis, soil evaluation for stormwater management practices, aquifer testing and characterization, foundation design (LRFD) and recommendations.
ProjectsConstruction
When a building, road, runway, bridge or other structure is being built, a construction engineer is required to oversee the construction project. Construction engineers deal with the design, planning, construction, and management of infrastructure such as highway, bridges, airports, railroads, buildings, dams, and utilities. Construction engineers are unique such that they are across between civil engineers and construction managers.
Himalayan's construction engineers have become very familiar with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. We have overseen construction for a variety of projects and are comfortable with all phases of the construction process.
ProjectsMunicipal
Communities require municipal engineers to develop their municipal infrastructure. Municipal engineers design and evaluate streets, sidewalks, water supply networks, sewers, street lighting, municipal solid waste management and disposal, and public parks. People in the community desire to improve their quality of life, and municipal engineers provide a set of skills which accomplish this.
Himalayan's municipal staff provide several services including site planning, storm water management and flood control, sanitary and storm sewer design, lift station evaluation and design, GIS mapping, and waste water treatment design.
